Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains in Iran. These rugs are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from long-piled, vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content for effective thermoregulation. Gabbehs are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads. Densely woven Gabbehs are exceptionally durable, said to last for 100 years. Created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbehs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being an original, unique piece. They can be used on the floor or even displayed as art on a wall. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, then air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present. The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed upon request

The pom-poms on the corners and sides of the Gabbeh can be removed and shipped to you without them, upon request. Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipment, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
