Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomadic in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of oil to effectively regulate body temperature, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh, hand-woven piece by piece by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are so durable that they are said to last 100 years.
Gabbeh, born from the extreme temperature differences between day and night, are also characterized by being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, their artistry. Gabbeh created from the nomads' imagination often feature animal and plant designs, and each piece is a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also displayed on the wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
