Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the nomadic life of the Qashqai tribe, who weave them by hand using vegetable-dyed wool in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, woven by Iranian nomads one by one by hand after dyeing the wool with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated, not feeling hot, in summer.
And, above all, there is their artistic quality. The Gabbeh created by the nomads from their imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also hung on the wall as art.
How about finding your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dye used for the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
