Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-piled, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product is exceptionally durable, allowing the sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of lanolin, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, and excellent at regulating body temperature.
Gabbeh, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their soft and fluffy texture.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting outstanding durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are also warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool feel.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, or dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
