Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs woven by hand by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool, and are deeply rooted in their way of life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product, which enables sheep to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, has excellent durability and soft, pleasant-to-the-touch fibers containing a lot of oil to regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran who dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each one, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, boasting excellent durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a sensation of coolness.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If you are concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a wet cloth to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.

The pom-poms on the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you would like the pom-poms removed before shipment, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
