Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs deeply rooted in daily life, made by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product, specifically bred for the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, boasts excellent durability for survival and contains a high amount of lanolin for effective thermoregulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, woven with this wool dyed with natural dyes by Iranian nomads, meticulously hand-knotting each strand, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, testament to its superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also displayed on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pompoms can be removed upon request

Removing the pompoms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
