Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomadic people in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool that is deeply rooted in their daily life. For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
