Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically live in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are made from naturally dyed wool and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is exceptionally durable, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high fat content to regulate body temperature, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
These Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing them from feeling hot.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. The designs, often depicting animals and plants, are created from the imagination of the nomads, making each Gabbeh a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They are not only suitable for laying on the floor but also beautiful enough to be displayed on walls as art.
Why not find a special Gabbeh that will be with you for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, or dye variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dye may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pompoms can be removed upon request

If you prefer, the pompoms on the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before shipment.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you would like to request shipment without pompoms, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
