Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs, rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant feel due to its high oil content, which helps regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, indicating their exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme daily temperature differences, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile.
If stains are a concern: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique scent from the dyes used on the wool.
Please be aware that the scent will gradually dissipate with use.
