Features of Hand-woven Persian Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They use vegetable-dyed wool and are an integral part of their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product comes from sheep in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains. It possesses excellent durability to withstand the extreme conditions and contains a high amount of lanolin, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, and adept at regulating body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, with their wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
A well-woven Gabbeh is highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there's their artistry. Gabbehs created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece with no two alike.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the wool dye may be present.
This odor will gradually fade with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
