Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads inhabiting the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are deeply rooted in their way of life, featuring long pile and wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture rich in natural oils, which helps regulate body temperature.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads, strand by strand, from naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from the extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, also have the unique characteristic of being warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there's their artistic appeal. Gabbeh rugs, imagined and created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Please Note
Due to their hand-woven nature, there may be slight irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving variations, and dye inconsistencies. Please appreciate these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the wool dye may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
