Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product is soft and pleasant to the touch, containing a lot of fat to effectively regulate body temperature and provide excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains. The Gabbeh, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, is characterized by its fluffy and pleasant feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting excellent durability. Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, also has the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing it from feeling hot. And, above all, there's its artistic quality. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, original item. They can be used on the floor or even displayed as art on a wall. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry it in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, dyeing inconsistencies, etc. Please be aware that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving. Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used to color the wool. The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
