Vacuum up dust from the surface along the pile. If you spill liquids, first absorb the moisture with something highly absorbent (such as kitchen paper or tissues). Then, place a dry towel on the back of the rug, and using water and a neutral detergent, wipe by dabbing with a firmly wrung-out towel or similar. Finally, remove as much moisture as possible with something absorbent and hang it in a well-ventilated area to dry.
