Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool to create long-pile rugs deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture contains a lot of oil to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight irregularities in shape or pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
