Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, everyday carpets hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in oils, which effectively regulates body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran who hand-weave each strand of this naturally dyed wool with care, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme daily temperature differences, Gabbeh rugs are also known for being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind item with no two being identical.
They are not only perfect for placing on the floor but also beautiful enough to be displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the wool dye may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
