Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, essential for surviving in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant feel due to its high oil content, which helps regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads, strand by strand, from naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can, of course, be placed on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be hung on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug, one you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, and variations in weaving and dye. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
