Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the daily lives of the Qashqai nomads, who hand-weave them from vegetable-dyed wool in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, essential for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, which contains a high oil content to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh rugs, made by carefully hand-weaving this naturally dyed wool one by one by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool feeling.
And above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being an original and unique item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool, which may result in a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
