Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who inhabit the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in everyday life, featuring long piles and using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, allowing it to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, which contains a lot of oil for effective body temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh rugs, woven by hand, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads from this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing the feeling of heat.
And above all, there's their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be displayed on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dye irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may occur.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
