Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads living in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool deeply rooted in their way of life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, essential for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture with high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
This wool is dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, resulting in a plush and comfortable Gabbeh rug.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are renowned for their outstanding durability, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, providing comfort even in hot weather.
And above all, there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, crafted from the nomads' imagination, often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, original piece with no two alike.
They can be placed on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dyes may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
