Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile carpets made with plant-dyed wool, hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, deeply rooted in their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture with high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs, woven individually by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the nomads' imagination, often feature animal and plant designs, and each piece is a unique original, with no two alike.
They are so artistic that they can be displayed on walls as well as on floors.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dye may be present.
The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
