Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who graze their flocks in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool to create long-pile rugs deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high fat content to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, so they don't feel hot.
And above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can enjoy for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
If dirt is a concern: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dyes may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
