Characteristics of Persian Hand-Knotted Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai people, who nomadically weave them in the Zagros Mountains of Iran using naturally dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing it to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and features soft, pleasant-feeling fibers rich in oil to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last 100 years, demonstrating their exceptional durability.
Born from the climate of extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also beautiful enough to be displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterward, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-knotted, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, or dyeing unevenness. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-knotted items.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As such, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
