Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs deeply rooted in daily life, made by the Qashqai nomads who herd in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content, allowing for effective body temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh rugs, woven with this wool dyed with natural dyes by Iranian nomads, meticulously crafted by hand, one thread at a time, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also characterized by being warm in winter and breathable in summer, making them feel cool.
And, above all, there is their artistic quality. The designs of Gabbeh rugs, created from the nomads' imagination, often feature animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece with no two alike.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but they are also artistic enough to be hung on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually fade with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
