Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are dyed with natural plant dyes and deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product has excellent durability, developed to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in oils for effective body temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran who hand-weave each strand of this naturally dyed wool with care, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imaginations often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also hung on walls as art.
Why not find a Gabbeh rug that you can use for a long time, a special one just for you?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and color variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
While the odor will gradually dissipate with use, we ask for your understanding in advance.
