Characteristics of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are handwoven carpets made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are made from plant-dyed wool with a long pile, deeply rooted in their way of life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its high oil content makes it soft and pleasant to the touch, effectively regulating body temperature.
This wool is dyed with natural dyes, and the Gabbeh, handwoven strand by strand by Iranian nomads, is characterized by its fluffy and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be hung on walls.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Please Note

Due to being handwoven, there may be slight irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of handweaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pompoms can be removed before shipping.

The pompoms located at the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before shipping upon your request.
Removing the pompoms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
