Characteristics of Hand-Woven Persian Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are hand-woven using naturally dyed wool. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant feel due to its high oil content, which helps with body temperature regulation.
Gabbeh, hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh, born from a climate with large temperature differences between day and night, are also known for being warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing heat buildup.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, original piece.
