Characteristics of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile, handwoven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically herd in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product, developed for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, boasts excellent durability and a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content for effective thermoregulation. Gabbehs are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel, as the wool is dyed with natural dyes and meticulously handwoven, strand by strand, by Iranian nomads. A tightly woven Gabbeh is highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Gabbehs, originating from a climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And above all, there's its artistry. Gabbehs, created from the nomads' imaginations, often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on a wall. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can enjoy for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile direction. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth until nearly dry, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being handwoven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a handwoven item. Also, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present. The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping

The pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery. Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
