Features of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled, handwoven rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its high oil content makes it soft and pleasant to the touch, allowing for effective body temperature regulation. Gabbeh, handwoven strand by strand by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, indicating its exceptional durability. Gabbeh, born from the climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique original. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Use a vacuum cleaner or broom to remove dirt and dust along the nap. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
As these are handwoven, there may be slight irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and color variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of handweaving. Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
