Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant-to-the-touch texture contains a high fat content to regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, with this wool hand-dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their soft and pleasant texture. Strongly woven Gabbeh are highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Gabbeh, originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated, not feeling hot, in summer. And above all, there's their artistic quality. Gabbeh created imaginatively by nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile. If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, or dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique scent from the dyes used on the wool. The scent will gradually fade with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
