Features of Persian Hand-Knotted Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-knotted by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are deeply rooted in daily life, featuring long piles made from vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
These wools are dyed with natural dyes, and Gabbeh rugs are meticulously hand-woven, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads, resulting in their characteristic plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy, preventing heat in summer.
And above all, there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find a special Gabbeh rug that's uniquely yours and that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
As these are hand-knotted, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-knotted items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Consequently, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
This scent will gradually diminish with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
