Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to effectively regulate body temperature, resulting in soft and pleasant-feeling wool.
Gabbeh rugs, made by carefully hand-weaving this wool dyed with natural dyes by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with drastic temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created imaginatively by nomads often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They are suitable for laying on the floor, and even for displaying as art on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Tassels can be removed before shipping

Removing the tassels does not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
