Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-piled, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads of Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool as an integral part of their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and is rich in lanolin, making it soft and pleasant to the touch for effective body temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, crafted by Iranian nomads meticulously hand-weaving each strand of this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are so durable that they are said to last 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the unique characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And above all, there's its artistic quality. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated shade.

Points to Note

Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, dyeing inconsistencies, etc. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pom-poms can also be removed upon shipment

The pom-poms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
