Characteristics of the Region (Varamin)

Varamin is located near Tehran, the capital of Iran, and has historically been connected by the Silk Road. In Varamin, where diverse ethnic groups and races live, traditional hand-woven "kilims" are particularly famous. The color schemes of Varamin kilims change with the times; older pieces often feature vibrant colors, while more recent ones tend to use subdued, darker tones. While various patterns exist, geometric patterns known as "Cheshm Gir" are particularly characteristic of this region.
