Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads who herd sheep in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability and a soft, pleasant texture with a high fat content, allowing for good temperature regulation, all necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains.
The Gabbeh, hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, after dyeing this wool with natural dyes, is characterized by its fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And, above all, there's its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being an original and unique item.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also displayed as art on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
