This stone, mined in ancient Persia (Iran), was brought to Europe via Turkey, and the word "Turkish" became the origin of its name. Persian turquoise is of the highest quality with high hardness, characterized by a vibrant, deep sky-blue color, often described as "the color of spring sky." In fact, it was one of the first stones used by humankind as an amulet for protection.

In Persia, it was cherished as the stone of the royal family for many years, and this Persian blue was also highly valued during the Victorian era.
Besides Iran, the best quality source, turquoise of varying qualities is also produced in Australia, America, China, Egypt, and other places. Many turquoise stones from Arizona, USA, are imported into Japan, but due to the drastic decrease in recent production and its rarity, Persian "Firoozeh" (turquoise) is not widely introduced.
