This stone, mined in ancient Persia (Iran), reached Europe via Turkey, which is how the word "Turkish" became the origin of its name. Persian turquoise is a vibrant, deep sky-blue, often called "the color of spring sky," and is a high-quality, hard stone. In fact, it was the first stone used by humanity as an amulet for protection.

In Persia, it was cherished by the royal family for many years, and this Persian blue was also highly valued during the Victorian era.
Besides Iran, the best quality source, turquoise of varying qualities is also produced in Australia, America, China, Egypt, and other countries. A large amount of American Arizona turquoise is imported into Japan, but Persian "Firoozeh" (turquoise) is rarely introduced due to its significantly reduced output in recent years, making it very precious.
