The turquoise used in this accessory is called Shajar, and it has a natural matrix pattern with mixed turquoise and stone. Shajar means "tree with branches" in Persian, and the branch-like texture of the stone enhances the blue of the turquoise.

This is a one-of-a-kind original design by our store, crafted by the famous Iranian engraver Mr. Javaheri. Leather Javaheri was an engraver who worked as one of the royal family's jewelers during the reign of King Pahlavi. While lecturing at the University of Fine Arts in Tehran, he also created our store's jewelry from 1990 to 2007. The delicate designs, tailored to the individuality of each turquoise stone, further enhance the charm of the turquoise. The back of each turquoise is engraved with gold, individually shaped to match the stone.

This stone, once mined in Persia (Iran), was brought to Europe via Turkey, and the word "Turkish" became the origin of its name. Persian turquoise is of the highest quality with high hardness, boasting a vibrant, deep sky blue color often referred to as "the color of spring sky." In fact, it was the first stone used by humankind as an amulet for warding off evil.

In Persia, it was long cherished as the stone of the royal family, and this Persian blue was also highly valued during the Victorian era.
Besides Iran, the best quality producing region, turquoise of varying quality is also found in Australia, America, China, Egypt, and other places. Many turquoise stones from Arizona, America, are imported to Japan, but this Persian "Firoozeh" (turquoise) is rarely introduced due to its significantly decreased production in recent years and its rarity.
