The turquoise used in this accessory is called Shajar, and it has a natural matrix pattern with a mix of turquoise and other stones. Shajar means "tree with branches" in Persian, and the branch-like texture of the stone enhances the blue of the turquoise.

This is a one-of-a-kind original design from our shop, created by the renowned Iranian goldsmith, Mr. Javaheri. Mr. Javaheri was a goldsmith who worked as one of the royal family's jewelers during the Pahlavi dynasty. While lecturing at Tehran University of Art, he created jewelry for our shop from 1990 to 2007. The delicate designs, tailored to the unique characteristics of each turquoise stone, further enhance the allure of the turquoise. The back of each turquoise stone is engraved with gold, matching the stone's shape.

Characteristics of Natural Persian Firoozeh (Turquoise) Jewelry

This stone, mined in ancient Persia (Iran), was brought to Europe via Turkey, and the word "Turkish" became the origin of its name. Persian turquoise is a vibrant, deep sky blue, known as "the color of spring sky," and is a high-quality stone with high hardness. In fact, it was the first stone humanity used as an amulet for protection.

In Persia, this stone was cherished by the royal family for many years, and in the Victorian era, this Persian blue was highly prized.
Besides Iran, the best quality source, turquoise of varying quality is also found in Australia, America, China, Egypt, and other countries. While much turquoise from Arizona, USA, is imported into Japan, this Persian "Firoozeh (turquoise)" is rarely introduced due to its dwindling production in recent years, making it very valuable.
