The turquoise used in this accessory is called Shajar, and it has a natural matrix pattern where the turquoise and other stones are mixed. Shajar means "tree with branches" in Persian, and the branch-like texture of the stone enhances the blue of the turquoise.
This classic design jewelry elegantly portrays the charm of Persia. The back of the piece is also meticulously and beautifully engraved to match the shape of the turquoise.

This is an original design, one-of-a-kind piece created by the famous Iranian engraver, Mr. Javaheri. Mr. Leather Javaheri was one of the jewelers to the royal family during the reign of the Pahlavi king. While lecturing at the Tehran University of Art, he also produced jewelry for our store from 1990 to 2007. His delicate designs, tailored to the unique characteristics of each turquoise stone, further enhance the charm of the turquoise. The back of each turquoise stone is individually engraved with gold to match its unique shape.

Features of Natural Persian Firoozeh (Turquoise) Jewelry

This stone, originally mined in ancient Persia (Iran), was brought to Europe via Turkey, giving rise to its name "turquoise," meaning "Turkish." Persian turquoise is a vibrant, deep sky blue, known as "the color of spring sky," and is of the highest quality with high hardness. In fact, it was the first stone used by humankind as a protective amulet.

In Persia, it was cherished as the stone of the royal family for many years, and this Persian blue was also highly valued during the Victorian era.
While Iran is the best source of turquoise, stones of varying quality are also produced in Australia, America, China, Egypt, and other regions. Although a lot of turquoise from Arizona in the US is imported into Japan, Persian "Firoozeh" (turquoise) is rarely introduced due to its drastically decreasing output in recent years, making it a precious commodity.
