Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-piled rugs, hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who inhabit the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, which contains a lot of oil to help regulate body temperature.
These Gabbeh, woven by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, yarn by yarn, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from the extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may occur.
This scent will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pompoms can be removed before shipping

If requested, the pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery.
Removing the pompoms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
