Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs, with this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme day-night temperature differences, Gabbeh rugs are also warm in winter and airy in summer, making them feel cool.
And above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created imaginatively by nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is an original, unique item.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but are also artistic enough to be displayed on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dye used for the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
Pompoms can be removed for shipping.
The pompoms on the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pompoms does not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish for the pompoms to be removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
