Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, everyday rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft and pleasant texture is due to its high oil content, which helps regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran who dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each strand, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, making them comfortable even in hot weather.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from nomadic imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique original.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug, a piece that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool, which may result in a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of it in advance.
