Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs woven by hand by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool as part of their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product, sourced from the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, possesses excellent durability for survival and contains a high amount of natural oils, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, and adept at regulating body temperature.
These Gabbeh rugs, made from wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and pleasant texture.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing heat buildup.
And above all, there's their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively crafted by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique and original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the nap.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel. Afterward, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, then air dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool.
While the odor will gradually dissipate with use, we ask for your understanding in advance.
