Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, nomadic people who live in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They use vegetable-dyed wool and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high fat content for efficient body temperature regulation.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and each Gabbeh is meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, resulting in a plush and comfortable feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, demonstrating its superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme daily temperature differences, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and breathable in summer, so they don't feel hot.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imagined and created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They are not only suitable for laying on the floor but can also be hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight irregularities in shape or pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and color variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dye used to color the wool.
This smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
