Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils, allows for effective body temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs, woven individually by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, demonstrating its superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, giving a feeling of coolness.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but are also artistic enough to be hung on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
