Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature, resulting in soft and pleasant-to-the-touch fibers.
Gabbeh rugs are made by nomads in Iran who dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each strand, resulting in a fluffy and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, showcasing their exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, so they don't feel hot.
And, above all, their artistic quality. The Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, and each one is a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on the wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If it is particularly dirty: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Then, carefully wipe it with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry it in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
