Gabbeh are hand-woven, long-pile rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterwards, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
