Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs

Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are long-pile rugs made from plant-dyed wool, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of lanolin for excellent temperature regulation, resulting in soft, pleasant-to-the-touch wool.
This wool is dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, resulting in a Gabbeh with a plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last 100 years.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dyes may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.

Pom-poms can be removed before shipping

The pom-poms on the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
