Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a lot of natural oils to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads dyeing this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weaving each strand, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and color variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used on the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Tassels can also be removed before shipping

The tassels attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before shipping if you request it.
Removing the tassels does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
