Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs made from plant-dyed wool, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil for good body temperature regulation, resulting in soft and pleasant-to-the-touch wool. The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and each Gabbeh is carefully hand-woven by Iranian nomads, resulting in a plush and comfortable texture. Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting excellent durability. Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing them from feeling hot. And, above all, is its artistry. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece. They can be used on the floor or even hung on walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
As these are hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dye used for the wool. The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
